VAN CAT
The Turkish Van cat is a distinctive natural breed of the domestic cat found around Lake Van in the Eastern Anatolia Region of Türkiye. Van cats are relatively large, have a chalky white coat and have blue and amber eyes as one eye of each color. The variety has been referred to as "the swimming cat" and has been observed to swim in Lake Van.
KANGAL DOG
Kangal Shepherd Dog is a traditional Turkish breed of large livestock guardian dog. The breed name derives from that of the town of Kangal in central Türkiye. The coat color varies from pale fawn to wolf grey, always with a black mask. Kangal is a smart and free-spirited shepherd dog with great speed and agility.
SIMIT
It is a circular bread, typically encrusted with sesame seeds or, less commonly, poppy, flax or sunflower seeds, found across the cuisines of the former Ottoman Empire and the Middle East, Türkiye and the Balkans. Simit's size, crunch, chewiness, and other characteristics vary slightly by region.
TURKISH TEA
It is a popular drink throughout Türkiye which has the highest per-capita tea consumption in the World. Turkish tea is typically prepared using two stacked teapots called "çaydanlık" specifically designed for tea preparation. Tea is drunk from small, tulip-shaped glasses called ince belli (literally "slim-waisted").
GALATA TOWER
The tower was built as a watchtower at the highest point of the Walls of Galata During the Byzantine period in 508 BC. It is now an exhibition space and museum in the Galata part of Istanbul, Türkiye.
FAIRY CHIMNEY
It is a tall, thin spire of rock formed by erosion. They typically consist of relatively soft rock topped by harder, less easily eroded stone. Fairy chimneys in Türkiye are located in historical region of Cappadocia.
KELOGLAN
Keloğlan (bald boy) is a fictional character that appears in Turkic tales. He is a clever and lucky character and usually appears as the son of a poor mother. He represents the Anatolian people with characteristics like honesty, bravery, helpfulness, cunning and sometimes gullibility. He overcomes obstacles that are not expected from someone like him.
TROJAN HORSE
It was a wooden horse used by the Greeks during the Trojan War to enter the city of Troy. The Greeks pretended to sail away, and the Trojans pulled the horse into their city as a victory trophy. That night, the Greek force crept out of the horse and opened the gates for the rest of the Greek army. The Greeks entered and destroyed the city and won the war.
